Our lives move fast. Jam-packed calendars, work deadlines, family responsibilities, and important relationships all pull on our attention, energy and time. How do you find calm without losing your edge? What is mindset and why does it matter? How do you show up at work and at home with a clear set of boundaries? Let’s kick off the day considering what works, what research has to offer, and where we might challenge ourselves to approach tomorrow in a new, fulfilling way.

Julie Larson, LCSW is the Director of JL Collaborative, which provides evidence-based mental health support to adolescents and young adults and supportive mental health programming to community health partners. With a depth of experience in oncology supportive care, Julie is a trusted advocate for mental healthcare throughout the cancer trajectory. In her career, she developed and directed the young adult program for the national nonprofit, CancerCare, and has contributed to initiatives from the National Cancer Institute and LiveStrong to address the unmet needs of adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.

Julie is a sought-after speaker/educator for cancer conferences, professional organizations, and corporate groups. She is a frequent contributor to Coping and Cure Magazines, as well as a guest on numerous health and wellness podcasts. She presented recently for VGM Education’s Women in Health Care series.

Julie’s TED talk, “Living in the And,” is based on 17 years of clinical work bearing witness to the resilience of individuals facing an unexpected medical diagnosis. Julie maintains a private practice in Des Moines, Iowa. She and her husband are the proud parents of four children.
